The Brazilian Buttocks Lift is a surgical procedure. The most important aspect of planning for any elective procedure is your safety. For this reason I perform BBL only in accredited outpatient surgery centers, with the assistance of an Anesthesiologist. Their job is to keep you comfortable and safe, allowing me to concentrate on the aesthetics.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) have both recently issued guidelines for BBL safety. Both professional societies recommend that fat be injected only between the skin and the muscle. Major complications, and even deaths, have been reported with fat injections into the muscle and associated injury to the large veins deep inside the buttocks.
No deaths have been associated with superficial fat injections. In this location, the fat gives more enhancement anyway, so it’s a win-win — more effective and safer. Be certain to ask your surgeon at what level they inject fat, and if they are injecting into or deep to the muscle, find another surgeon. Fat grafting is less effective and more dangerous in these deeper layers.
